Heath and his wife Joanne chose to enter the dairy industry 12 years ago, after 20 years of saving for their dream. Heath and Joanne’s farm is near Dorrigo, where they milk 280 cows. Heath chose to supply Norco from day one as he believes in the farmer owned and operated co-operative model.
Heath recognizes that Norco has done an exceptional job in lifting farmgate price in an incredibly hostile financial environment but is also fully aware that farm inputs are sky rocketing, grain and fodder costs are at an all-time high and all dairy farmers are haemorrhaging financially. Heath is focused on increasing farm gate price to ensure that there is a profitable and sustainable dairy industry for the future.
Heath has been relentless in furthering his understanding and representation since entering the dairy industry, demonstrated by the following:
- Two years as Mid North Coast co-ordinator of the Young Dairy Network.
- Completed the Developing Dairy Leaders Program in 2017.
- Currently in his second term on the NSW Farmers Dairy Committee.
- Subtropical Dairy Regional Chair.
Prior to dairying Heath was the Process Superintendent of Australia’s largest goldmine and accountable for multimillion-dollar budgets and projects. Heath has sat on numerous boards and committees which has given him critical insight into good governance and the appreciation of the importance of getting things right the first time and the ramifications of getting them wrong.
