Matthew and his wife Michelle, together with their six sons, own and operate a dairy farm at Moy Pocket Queensland, milking 150 cows with the assistance of a share farmer.
Matthew believes that for dairy farmers to succeed, Norco needs to continue to be a successful and profitable farmer owned dairy co-operative and his vision for Norco is to be an efficient and innovative business, focused on driving farm gate milk price.
In being elected to the Board of Directors, Matthew’s skills and experience allows him to bring new ideas, a strong voice, board experience and the enthusiasm needed to make Norco stronger and more profitable for all members. Matthew’s experience also extends to being a Director of Subtropical Dairy.
In his role as Vice President of the Queensland Dairyfarmers’ Organisation (QDO), Matthew is proud to have played a significant part in fighting for the ending of $1 per litre milk, which was a great team effort between many, including the QDO and NORCO. Matthew’s track record in helping to bring the two organisations together shows his commitment to being a team player who is focused on results, however he recognizes there is still more to do.
As a dairy farmer, Matthew is fully aware of the impact that feed costs are having on the northern dairy industry and his priority will be to drive milk price to offset the effects of increased input costs being experienced by members.
